Dana Smith | Biography
Dana Smith studied Shakespeare and creative writing at Santa Clara University. A lifelong writer, Smith finished the draft of Highway Home on his trusty Smith-Corona manual typewriter in 1981. In 2005 he returned to the manuscript, this time working on a computer, and over the next four years revised and completed his first novel. In 2009 he launched work on a second, Pleasure Craft and completed the book in June of 2011. In January 2012 he embarked on the drafting for his third novel, Hot Spring Honeymoon. The novel, a comedy, set in the Great Basin was at long last finished in September 2013.
Born in Oakland, California the author's imagination is captivated by the landscape of the American west where has spent his life traveling and performing. Current writing projects include a new script for his one man show and short nonfiction essays. Research and the outline of a fourth novel, set in the wine growing regions of Northern California, is starting to take shape.
