Roll of the Nation’s Dice—

One day I wake up and find I am stuck in the remake of Cabaret. The next day it’s The Producers, and I’m singing Springtime for Hitler in Germany—

What Housing Shortage—

I spotted two Republican pundits characterizing the upcoming election as a choice between a far-left party and their center-right party. That sent hot coffee through my nostrils.

Evidently, they have not heard of the Overton Window. I suspect they stopped reading back in 2016, perhaps they have not heard their party has been taken over by a fascist who is leading his followers over a cliff. According to Overton the window frames a range of policies a politician can recommend without appearing too extreme. Over time the window can shift to one side or the other. Oh has there been a shift in the direction of one party.

Your Vote is Your Power—

If you haven’t heard the Republican candidate believes it necessary to suspend the constitution, court martial and put former Joint Chief of Staff General Miley to death by firing squad. Yesterday it was Liz Cheney’s turn, he’d like to see her face the same punishment for opposing his candidacy. Then, there is the case of CBS. He didn’t like the 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris, their license needs to be revoked, CBS needs to be shuttered.

Democrats meanwhile are proposing we do something about day care, climate, home ownership and help small businesses getting off the ground. Hard to believe how upsetting these policy proposals make the Republican Party.

Worse still after what I predict will be the Republican Party’s loss for their candidate next week the country will have to deal with the shattered remains of one of our nation’s two main political party’s.

We’ll have some post election mischief to settle, I expect minimal trouble, registered women voters are going to the polls fighting to restore their reproductive rights a rogue Supreme Court stole, that wave of female voter indignation I suspect results in a landslide. There is no work around when your party has been roundly rejected by large majorities across the nation.

A World View

My guess is the convicted felon will board his plane and vacation with Putin at his mansion overlooking the Black Sea. Because Putin invaded a sovereign nation, he is in trouble with the World Court and charged with war crimes. Putin would face arrest if he traveled to any number of countries that still enforce the rule of law.

His useful idiot faces much the same problem. Having stolen top secret documents, instigated an insurrection, already convicted of financial fraud he is at risk of being put in prison.

You can’t make this shit up— Republicans haven’t just gone off the rails, they’ve lost their ever-loving minds doing anything and everything to avoid being held accountable.

Darth Vader, Dick Cheney and Arnold Schwarzenegger have had to abandon their party to support the Democrat running for president. That display of principle is more than you can say for so many Republicans that simply cannot bring themselves to look in a mirror. Especially disappointing are our billionaires, far too many want nothing to do with our nation, our needs to raise taxes, cope with the climate emergency and keep the world’s preeminent economy growing. I don’t find they possess a relationship with the moral compass they once had.

Democracy, rule of law, peaceful transfer of power and the preservation of our constitution are all on the ballot. Republicans will burn our government to the ground if they regain the White House. Stripping women of their fundamental rights is only warmups for this crowd.

I see a radical group hellbent on bringing their dictator to power. Project 2025 is eager to end this experiment in self-governance. Checkpoints, internment camps and our own military deployed on our own streets will be under orders from a mentally addled commander in chief to shoot what he thinks are his enemies— you know, they are also known as citizens. That is how far we have fallen. Next Tuesday we test our souls. On Wednesday we will take the first steps in walking back from the abyss.
